Introduction of spray drying machine
A spray drying machine is a widely used industrial process for drying and transforming liquid or slurry-like substances into powders or granules. This method is particularly useful for materials that are sensitive to heat and for producing fine, free-flowing particles with controlled particle size distribution. The process involves spraying a liquid feed material into a hot gas stream, where the liquid quickly evaporates, leaving behind the dried particles.
Working principles
- Atomization: The feed material, often a liquid or a suspension, is introduced into the drying chamber where it is atomized into fine droplets.
- Contact with Hot Air: The droplets are then contacted with a flow of hot air or gas, which causes rapid evaporation of the liquid within the droplets.
- Drying and Particle Formation: As the droplets dry, solid particles are formed, leaving behind dried particulate material.
- Product Collection: The dried particles are collected from the bottom of the drying chamber, usually in a cyclone separator or a bag filter.
- Recycling and Emission Control: In some cases, the hot air or gas can be recycled and reused for further drying, while the moist air or gas is exhausted through a vent or a scrubber to remove any remaining particulate matter.
Materials and industries
- Industry: chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, food, dehydrated vegetables, grain, mining, etc.
- Application: citric acid, chicken essence, borax, ammonium sulfate, washing powder, milk powder, protein powder, etc.
